Revolt Summer Surf Series 2014 Round III

The Revolt Summer Surf Series round III was on August 23rd down at Ocean Beach, California. The waves proved to be a little bit challenging but there was some ride-able  surf to keep the riders happy. Here’s a few shots that I took from the day.

Vince Boulanger is currently sitting in first place of the Pro/Am with a healthy 600-ish point lead thanks to some great scores in RSSS II and III. Only 85 points separates Maya Saulino and Avalon Johnson so the women’s competition is definitely on for a tight finish. The final round is at Crystal Pier on October 4, make sure you get down for what is going to be a huge event!

That Rainbow Photo!

Landscape Photography - Rainbow at Westland Tai Poutini National Park, New Zealand

I was driving towards Franz Josef glacier in New Zealand and looked across to see a beautiful rainbow that had formed in the Westland Tai Poutini National Park. Even though there was a huge storm about to roll across the range, I couldn’t help myself and had to stop and take a photo.

This shot consists of 3 photos taken handheld and merged into one panoramic photo. I have this printed on metallic paper and it looks fantastic! I love this photo.

Santa Catalina Island

Landscape Photography - Catalina Pier - Santa Catalina Island, California, USAI woke up early on a recent trip to Catalina to try and get a clear shot of the green pier at sunrise. You have to get up very early to beat the fishermen, if you look closely to the left of the fish and chip shop at the end of the pier you will see a fisherman waiting for his ride. It was a clear morning so the sunrise wasn’t anything special but still a beautiful place to be!

Wallaces Hut at Falls Creek Alpine Resort

Landscape Photography - Wallaces Hut - Falls Creek Alpine Resort, Victoria, AustraliaWallaces Hut is one of the many huts that litter the Australian alpine region, this hut is probably one of the easiest to get to as it’s only about 750m from the parking lot.

On this particular day in January (mid summer in Australia) the temperature was 7C (approx 44F) and the wind chill made it feel closer to zero! There was talk of snow potentially falling as well but unfortunately it never came, I’ll have to come back in winter to capture a blanket of snow around the hut.

Mount Rainier

Landscape Photography - Panoramic photo of Mount Rainer - Mount Rainier National Park, Washington, USA

Mount Rainier National Park is one of my favourite places to visit. I’ve been there twice and plan on going back a third time to complete a photographic hiking adventure of the Wonderland Trail (93 miles/150km).

This panoramic photo of Mount Rainier is made up of 6 portrait style images that I stitched together and is ready to be printed at 60″ x 30″. The original photo has a native resolution of about 100″ (approx 2.5m) but can be easily increased to a larger resolution.
